For the first time outside the traditional holiday months, Broadway has crossed the $50 million mark in a single week, a major box office milestone powered by spring break tourism and Tony Awards momentum.

With the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) out of school from April 14–18, local families and tourists flooded theaters. Historically, about one-third of Broadway’s audience comes from this region and last week, it showed.

🎟️ Family-friendly hits like Wicked, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child saw some of the largest week-over-week jumps, with Wicked, Lion King, and Aladdin each playing 9 performances to meet demand. In total, 273 performances were staged across Broadway.

🌟 The “Big 3” star-driven plays of Good Night, and Good Luck (George Clooney), Othello (Jake Gyllenhaal / Denzel Washington), and Glengarry Glen Ross (Kieran Culkin / Bob Odenkirk / Bill Burr) continue to dominate in gross and average ticket price. Together, they accounted for 18% of Broadway’s total weekly gross, a clear signal that prestige, casting, and box office can go hand-in-hand.
